Most of Lakeside’s north shore is comprised of towns, villages and residential communities. From the towns of Chapala in the east to Jocotepec in the west, you can explore the: stunning lakeside malecons [boardwalks], lovely landscaped parks, colorful cobblestone streets, along with the distinctive architecture of the buildings and homes. It takes approximately 30 minutes to drive directly from Chapala to Jocotepec.

Chapala is known as the business centre of the region, but has many recreational features for family and friends to enjoy. From the new malecon, you can take a boat to Scorpion Island for a special lunch and a pleasurable time.

The Village of Ajijic and its surrounding residential communities has a large concentration of foreign residents and visitors. The village has cobblestone streets with colorful buildings, great restaurants, excellent B&Bs, international banks, medical clinics, movie theatres, art galleries and specialty shops. Most residents take the 45 minute drive to Guadalajara or special bus trips to shop at Costco, Sams, Super Walmarts, Home Depot, furniture stores and exclusive shops located at the many malls in the city. The city offers excellent entertainment, concerts and unlimited shopping in Tonala and charming Tlaquepaque.

The town of San Antonio Tlayacapan, minutes from Ajijic, has a Walmart,Superlake [grocery/specialty store], a Casino, Centro de Laguna shopping mall-cineplex for your convenience. San Antonio also has existing and new home construction in the community of Chula Vista Norte. This elegant residential community has breath-taking views of the lake and bordering mountains.
